Caitlyn and her sister, playwright Megan Calfas, are developing a new play inspired by Sappho, the Greek poetess, which will have it’s first early sharing this May, produced by CKC Productions.
The piece will feature the acting talents of Miya James, Claire Adams, Carys Murray and Lieve de Putter.
Sappho was a Greek poetess, yes, but she was also my aunt from Greece, my 10th grade U.S. History teacher, my first love, the MUNA song stuck in my head… This is a piece exploring how we navigate the fragmented and contradictory bits of ourselves and why we attach and project onto the incomplete, surviving work of Sappho, the poetess of Eressos, Lesvos. Featuring a ‘Greek chorus’ of queer women, it will incorporate the fragments of Sappho’s poetry we have today.
